It covers explosion prevention, explosion isolation, oxidant concentration control, fuel concentration control, and ignition control systems and provides requirements for designers, safety officers, and facility managers that are vital to helping prevent dust and spark explosions in woodworking, grain processing, machining, and other facilities.
The 2024 edition includes:
- Standardized terminology and requirements for automatic shutdown and orderly shutdown
- Added requirements for dust flame-arresting devices
- Revised requirements on safety instrumented systems
- Added language to address elevated temperatures on close-clearance rotary valves
- Revised requirements on battery backup for control panels
- Consolidation of all inspection, testing, and maintenance requirements for various types of equipment into Chapter 15.
